On this occasion when we
Indians are celebrating our 69th Republic Day, I feel much honored to address
each citizen gathered over here. Years back this day our constitution, which is
praised as one of the best constitutions of the world, came into effect, which
gave us sparks of hope about betterment and development of our nation.
But sixty nine years later, India is
still in darkness. Sixty nine years later the promises made by our constitution
is still in question. Increasing rate of poverty, rape, child labour, water
scarcity, border battles, religious struggles etc shows the pathetic situation
of our nation. If this situation goes on our constitution will soon turn into a
book full of fake promises.
So my dear friends, I have a dream for
India today. A dream which is deep rooted in the minds of each citizen of
India.
I have a dream that one
day this nation will rise up from the ashes of religious disparities and live
harmoniously in peace.
I have a dream that one
day every single person in this nation will come out of poverty and live a
healthy life.
I have a dream that one
day every single girl shall walk through the streets without any fear.
I have a dream that
small children will one day live in a nation, where they will not be forced to
do labour but will be sent to schools.
I have a dream that one
day, the political system of this nation will be refined and educated and
eligible leaders will lead us.
I have a dream that one
day this nation will live in harmony with neighboring countries.
I have a dream that one
day wealth accumulated in few hands will flow down to the poor and needy
people.
I have a dream that one
day every individual in this nation will have sufficient food to eat and
sufficient water to drink.
I have a dream that even
in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, a state filled with thundering noise of
rifles, a state filled with rivalry, will one day turn into a land of peace and
brotherhood.
I have a dream that one
day each citizen will be entitled to enjoy the promises made in the
constitution. I have a dream today.
This is my hope. This is
our hope. This is India's hope.
I really look forward
for a day when all of our dreams come true.
Thank You.
